Physical education specialist program and fitness

At McLaren Vale Primary School students are provided with a specialist physical education program with a focus on engagement and inclusion.  Our specialist physical education teacher develops a program in line with the Australian Curriculum.

Many specialist clinics are offered during physical education lessons by visiting organisations, giving all students a great taste of a variety of sports. The school accesses the Sporting School grants to fund expert coaching and delivery of programs.  We work closely with SEDA College who offer skill sessions in various sports provided by senior secondary students and teacher in a fun and inclusive way.

Lots of fun is had each year at our annual events including Sports Day and Colour Run.

Years 5 and 6 students (and limited for Year 4s) are provided with multiple opportunities to participate in School Sport SA (formerly SAPSASA) events. Students are able to compete in their chosen sport representing their school, district and state.  McLaren Vale Primary School is part of the Onkaparinga South District.  Opportunities are posted on Audiri when available but can include athletics, cross country, mountain biking, basketball, football, netball, soccer, volleyball, hockey, swimming and much more.

A whole school morning fitness program four times a week gives the entire school body of students and staff a wonderful start to the day with 10 minutes of rigorous dancing or exercise together and allows everyone to connect to one another. This program has been designed for students to start the day with movement which transfers into regulation and optimal learning conditions when returning to class.

An after school basketball program is offered with school teams at Morphett Vale Stadium. This program is run by parents of children playing in teams.  Please keep an eye out on Audiri for more information around registering interest.

The Reception to Year 4 students access a swimming program at Noarlunga Leisure Centre and Years 5 to 6 students an aquatics program at Port Noarlunga Beach.
