Dear MVPS families,

We are very committed to working in partnership with our parents and caregivers in our children’s education. One way of embedding this partnership is through our volunteers. There are many ways to volunteer at MVPS including:

  • Governing Council Committee or sub-committee;
  • Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden lessons;
  • library support;
  • volunteering in class programs;
  • supporting excursions and camps;
  • coaching or team managing after school basketball teams; sharing your expertise / skills or knowledge with classes;
  • and much more.

We have a strict process in place for people volunteering at our school, we have this in place to make sure that we are confident and secure in the people that we have working with your children whilst they are in our care.

Sometimes the process of signing up can be a bit frustrating, but we ask that you hang in there, ask us for help and be persistent and resilient to make sure that you finalise your volunteering application.

Here is the process for volunteering at McLaren Vale Primary School:

VOLUNTEERING AT MVPS PROCESS:

Our children’s safety and wellbeing are paramount to everything that we do, therefore we have strict processes in place for those who would like to volunteer at McLaren Vale Primary School.

If you would like to be a volunteer, please email the school on dl.0251.admin@schools.sa.edu.au and provide certificates/evidence (email or hard copies to the front office) of the following (if you haven’t already):

Step 1
Step 2

Working With Children (WWC) Check (we can commence an application on your behalf if you don’t have one, we just require your date of birth and email address – any associated costs are paid by the school)

Step 3

– and –

Step 4

Once all of these have been completed, the Principal will review your application and assess suitability for being a volunteer at MVPS.

If approved you may be invited to sit down with a MVPS staff member who will go through a MVPS Volunteer site induction checklist and then you will be approved to commence your volunteer work.

An induction pack consisting of printed information and a handbook will be provided.

ALL adults intending on volunteering in our school need to get in contact with Mary-Anne Sherriff and provide all information and documentation required.

Once we have all of this you will be listed on our official database as a validated volunteer.

Staff will refer to this list when organising their volunteers. If your name is not on this list, you will not be able to volunteer in some instances.

Please note that we need this process to be done prior to the day you intend to volunteer, as sometimes time does not permit for the process to be completed effectively on the day.

Please also see the link below to the “Non-employees COVID-19 Vaccination Policy” (which applies to school volunteers):

The Department for Education request that we reinforce to visitors/volunteers to use good hand and respiratory hygiene (including regularly washing hands and covering nose and mouth when sneezing and coughing) and not to attend if feeling unwell and seek testing.

Masks and hand sanitiser are available in the front office, student services, the staffroom and classrooms if required.

We look forward to connecting more closely to you all.
