Information Technology

At McLaren Vale Primary School, aligned with the Australian Curriculum, students develop ICT skills to access, create, and communicate information, solve problems, and collaborate. We have a dynamic and driven staff team committed to ICT and the purposeful implementation of digital technologies for learning.

Our 1-to-1 Chromebook program, starting in Year 3, ensures that Years 3-6 students have their own devices, which they bring to and from school daily. Classes use the Google Suite (Classroom, Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Sites) to publish, collaborate, create, and submit learning tasks. Our staff models the use of these tools within their teams, continuously developing their skills to enhance student learning experiences.

We aim for our students to be creators with technology, not just consumers. Coding and STEM design thinking are integrated into all classes, with students’ design thinking skills developed through inquiry-based projects. This approach ensures students can effectively use digital technologies, adapt to new tools, and manage digital risks, preparing them for a technology-driven future.
